No, no, no. Silicon Valley itself is more diverse than you realize. The issue is that the VC's that fund these startups, they shun black folks. If you go to Startup Grind every year, you would know both information first hand. I was at Startup Grind in 2016, 2017, and 2018. In one of the conversations I had, a black man tried to get funding for his startup, I knew exactly what he experienced. Complete utter oppresion from VC's who don't care about anyone outside of the white race.

In that same day, he was asking a question to a VC about funding, with relation to race. She dodged the bullet, and avoided the actual question, and answered the question with a "blanket" answer. There is a bias in the VC world as it stands now, more than it ever did back in 2016 onwards.

People who come to Silicon Valley for funding are here because it's where the millions and the billions are. Most of the other startup "hubs" don't have the same access to capital, or connections that they do in Silicon Valley.

Let me put it another way, so you understand: I currently live in Alabama, do you think there's a startup hub here? No, not really. Not like Silicon Valley. So, you're left with a smaller pool of investors, and smaller access to capital.
